     PEACE CLUB INAUGURATED
   IN

      JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA, MOULI (PANCHKULA)

Panchkula, April 17, 2009: Today, as part of the ongoing Campaign for Peace-city Panchkula, a Peace Club was inaugurated at Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mouli, Panchkula. Karan Singh Jaglan, Dy. DEO & Parmod Sharma, Coordinator of Yuvsatta-an NGO were the key speakers on the occasion.

Introducing the Peace Club activities Mrs. Santosh Sharma, Principal of the School said that as part of their endeavour to promote gandhian values amongst the students, they have planned to organize lot of activities like a Peace Week, Essay, slogan and Poetry writing contests on the theme of nonviolence and forgiveness, plays highlighting the life and works of Gandhiji plus educational excursions for the student members of Peace Club of the School.

Karan Singh Jaglan informed that they have already started a process of inculcation of gandhian values amongst the students through Peace Clubs in all the Schools of Panchkula. To begin with they intend to strengthen at least 20 Peace Clubs in various Schools of Panckula District and later will like to spread this campaign to other parts of their Haryana State as well. He also announced grant of 20 autobiographies of Mahatma Gandhi for School Library.

In his address to students and teachers of the School Parmod Sharma said that Peace Clubs in educational institutions can help a lot in creating an environment where harmony prevails in the School, where learning becomes attractive and empowering for the child. As part of an ongoing campaign of Yuvsatta, Project V-care, he also motivated students of the School to write personal letters of love and affection to soldiers posted on the borders of India with Pakistan.

Raj Kumar, the teacher incharge of Peace Club of the School promised to get around 1000 beautiful postcards from students, saluting the courage and valour of soldiers of Indian Army.
